The 2010 Cannonau di Sardegna Corona Majore is a little clumsy in places but succeeds at making a big impact. It opens to pretty dark concentration with jammy aromas of blackberry and dark cherry. That bold style is enhanced by soft tones of leather and natural spice. Corona Majore is all about dark fruit flavors.

The 2008 Cannonau di Sardegna Corona Majore is a bit rough around the edges, yet there is enough density in the fruit to make me think all the wine needs is further time in bottle. Sweet red cherries, rosemary, sage and mint are some of the nuances that emerge over time. There are elements of inner sweetness and perfume that are quite striking, while the vibrant finish suggests several years of fine drinking in the future. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018.
