Made with organic fruit, the Palagetto 2019 Vernaccia di San Gimignano draws its fruit from 15- to 20-year-old vines and sees an easy fermentation in stainless steel. You get pear, apple and quince with some dusty mineral and a touch of cumin spice at the edges. This zippy, fresh and lightweight wine would make a great companion to fried chickpea falafel with mint and yogurt sauce. Production is an ample 100,000 bottles.

A bit subdued on first nose, the 2014 Vernaccia di San Gimignano takes a few minutes to open in the glass. Even when it does open, the wine offers slightly muted aromatic intensity. You definitely get aromas of citrus and peach that make for a good start. This pure expression of the grape only sees stainless steel.
