Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Monolith was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 45% new. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts from the glass with notes of black cherry compote, kirsch and black currant jelly plus hints of menthol, dark chocolate, cinnamon stick and cedar chest. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is chock-full of taut, muscular fruit with a firm, finely grained texture and bold freshness, finishing with great length and impressive vibrancy. 350 cases were made.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Monolith gives up notes of red and black currants, black raspberries and fresh mulberries with suggestions of bay leaves, damp soil, black olives and lavender. Medium-bodied, the palate sings of freshness with racy acidity and well-played, soft tannins supporting the red and black berry layers, finishing on an invigorating herbal note. This should age amazingly! 422 cases were made.

Made of 100% Cabernet aged 20 months in 47% new French oak, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Monolith opens with bold notions of black cherry preserves, black raspberries, blackcurrant cordial and mocha with hints of tar, licorice, wild sage and cedar chest. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and built like a brick house with firm, grainy tannins and great freshness supporting the generous fruit, finishing long and earthy. 257 cases produced.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Monolith gives up a ripe black cherry, cassis and mulberries-scented nose with suggestions of eucalypt, dark chocolate and cedar chest plus a waft of sage. Medium-bodied, muscular and built like a brick house, it has a solid backbone of ripe, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing long earthy. 303 cases were produced.

Another big, structured, classic 2013 is the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Monolith. Coming from a vineyard at 1,750 feet in elevation, this is 99% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Merlot., aged 20 months in 55% new French oak. This vineyard is one of the oldest blocks on the mountain, and the wine has great intensity, some chocolate, crushed rock and crème de cassis as well as plenty of earth and unsmoked tobacco notes. It is dense, full-bodied and moderately tannic. Drink it between 2020 and 2045.
