The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Bench Reserve is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot and 3% Malbec, all sourced from the winery's two estate vineyards. It's gently herbal on the nose, with strident black cherries and dark, loamy notes that demonstrate plenty of intensity but don't deliver much fun. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with firm tannins and acids. Yes, it's built to age, but is it built for pleasure? Try it in a few years and see.
