Produced from 100% Muller Thurgau, the 2009 Dolce gives a pale gold color and intense notes of lemon marmalade, dried apricots and dried mango with hints of clover honey, musk and preserved mandarin peel. Very, very sweet and concentrated with very crisp, lively acid, this is made in a lower alcohol style, finishing long with lingering notes of dried tropical fruits and honeycomb. The 2008 Dolce is made from Muller-Thurgau vines planted in 1989. The berries have a fair bit of botrytis but are mainly shriveled or dried on the vine. It gives wonderfully intense aromas of marmalade, candied peel, acacia honey, apricot conserve and a whiff of muskiness. Very crisp, very sweet (200 grams per liter of residual sugar+), the palate is thick, opulent and concentrated, giving a very, very long finish. It’s delicious now but should cellar well to 2015+.
