The 2015 Cannonau di Sardegna Noras is in fact made with 90% Cannonau and 10% Carignano. This is a terrific mid-level wine that shows good value and an accessible style that makes it perfect for just about any homemade pasta, especially a Sardinian malloreddus alla campidanese: a shell-shaped pasta with a sausage and pecorino ragù. The wine offers pretty primary fruit with blackberry, wild cherry and rose, all backed by subtle smoke and wet earth. This vintage delivers a very ripe, succulent and fruity character. It's good fun all around.

The 2014 Cannonau di Sardegna Noras is a mid-weight effort with a dark garnet color. The aromas are bright and pungent, bursting from the glass with intensity. Cassis and candied cherry make a statement, but there is more to behold as the wine warms in the glass. There is a hint of jammy fruit as well. This wine is very true to the grape and speaks to a tonic and mid-weight approach that would pair so nicely with the stewed or grilled meat dishes served in the local cuisine of this beautiful Mediterranean island.

The 2011 Cannonau di Sardegna Noras represents a big jump forward in quality compared to past editions of this historic Cannonau from the sunny heart of the Mediterranean. The approach is elegant and streamlined, and the bouquet imparts careful aromas of black cherry, dried violets and sweet spice. The quality of the wine's primary aromas are first rate. In the mouth, Noras delivers sweet richness and generous fruit layers. There's nothing not to like here.

The 2009 Cannonau di Sardegna Noras is laced with sweet red cherries, savory herbs and wild flowers. Textured and inviting, the 2009 stands out for its overall balance next to wines in its peer group. This is a lovely wine, and a strong first showing from the latest addition to the Santadi lineup.
