A terrific barrel sample, the 2021 Pinot Noir Joli Coeur delivers layers of ripe black cherries, balanced spice and even a slightly briary complexity. It's medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced and textural and long on the finish.

From the vineyard's shallowest soils, the 2020 Pinot Noir Joli Coeur delivers deep black cherry fruit and exotic spice notes suggestive of licorice, cardamom and allspice. It's full-bodied, creamy-textured and lush, with great texture, suppleness and length on the finish, a clear step up from Morlet's other two bottlings.

The Joli Coeur Pinot Noir comes from the “sweet spot” within the Coteaux Nobles vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, planted to an eastern exposure and shallower topsoil. A barrel sample, the 2019 Pinot Noir Joli Coeur sports a medium ruby-purple color and bombastic notes of Black Forest cake, pomegranate and Morello cherries plus suggestions of fragrant earth, red roses, stewed rhubarb and dark chocolate with a touch of Provence herbs. Full-bodied, the opulently fruited palate bursts with red berry preserves and earthy layers, supported by velvety tannins and a lively backbone, finishing very long and fragrant. 430 cases are due to be made.

The Joli Coeur Pinot Noir comes from the “sweet spot” within the Coteaux Nobles vineyard in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, planted to an eastern exposure and shallower topsoil. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2018 Pinot Noir Joli Coeur has a seductive nose of rose oil, kirsch, chocolate-covered cherries and cranberry preserves with hints of cinnamon stick, clove oil, wild mushrooms and forest floor. The full-bodied palate delivers impactful, mouth-coating red berry flavors, supported by fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing on a persistent mineral note. 320 cases were made.

The Joli Coeur Pinot Noir comes from the “sweet spot” within the Coteaux Nobles and En Famille vineyards in Fort Ross-Seaview AVA. Medium ruby-purple colored, the 2017 Pinot Noir Joli Coeur comes rolling out of the glass with fragrant notes of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries and raspberry tart plus nuances of lilacs, underbrush, mossy bark and wild mushrooms. Medium-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-filling red berry and earthy layers, framed by electric acidity and lovely, ripe, grainy tannins, finishing very long. 275 cases were made.
