The 2018 Chardonnay Journey, aged 10 months in 33% new oak, offers ripe banana chip and guava aromas with touches of honey, almonds, lemon peel and meringue. The medium-bodied palate is silky, seamless and expansive, with gently honeyed flavors and a long, concentrated finish. 231 cases produced.

The 2017 Chardonnay Journey, aged in 30% new French oak, unfurls with fresh quince, lilac, jasmine and honey toast with accents of warm peaches, hazelnuts, crushed shell and beeswax. Medium-bodied, it has a lovely silky texture and slowly blossoming, savory flavor layers, with acidity that begs you to take another sip, finishing very long and savory. So pretty! 300 cases were made.

The 2016 Chardonnay Journey is a little youthfully mute, giving way to green mango, guava and Golden Delicious apples notes with a toasty undercurrent and hints of beeswax and roasted almonds. Full-bodied with mouth-coating tropical and toasty layers, it has a lovely line of freshness and plenty of spices coming through on the finish. 300 cases produced.

The luxury cuvee of 2009 Chardonnay Journey is 100% barrel-fermented and aged in French oak (50% new) for ten months prior to bottling. It reveals more caramelized tropical fruit, honeysuckle, white peach, toast and brioche notes in a full-bodied, rich, concentrated, pure style with an enticing texture as well as a long, authoritative finish. Enjoy it over the next 3-4 years. Quality is slowly rising at Matanzas Creek since it was acquired by Jess Jackson a number of years ago.
