Impressively dark for a Merlot, with a vibrant, deep purple hue, Martini's 2020 Merlot Cellar No. 254 is impressively scented also, with hints of rose blossoms, cherry tomatoes and mixed raspberries. Full-bodied, it's creamy and supple on the palate, with a pinch of peppery spice on the finish and a nib of salted licorice.

Sourced from Gallo-owned properties—Stagecoach (72%), William Hill (19%) and Cypress Ranch (9%)—the 100% Merlot 2019 Merlot Cellar No. 254 offers up scents of black cherries, dusty earth and dark loam. It's round, ripe, soft and generous on the palate, an easy-drinking Merlot that finishes with a touch of warmth and hints of mocha on the finish. As a historical aside, Louis P. Martini was the first in California to label a varietal Merlot.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Merlot Cellar No. 254 charges out of the gate with bold scents of preserved plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake with hints of baking spices and fragrant earth. Full, rich and seductive in the mouth, it delivers decadent black fruit preserves and spicy flavors with a velvety texture and impressive freshness, finishing long and perfumed. 394 cases were made.
