The NV Amontillado Solera Familiar shows the dark amber color of an old wine. The nose has some Oloroso notes, because the oxidative aging has probably been quite long, full of nuts, hints of Armagnac, with some volatility. The palate is surprisingly balanced and round, all the corners have been polished by time, more elegant than you expect. Long and tasty, this huge wine should be consumed between 2013-2018.
Gutierrez Colosia is an old winery in the Puerto de Santa Maria, created in 1838 near the Guadalete River. They were originally almacenistas, and they only started bottling and selling their wines as recently as 1997. Gutierrez is a very common surname in Spain, but as far as I know, they are not relatives of mine. All their wines have a powerful, concentrated profile with high dry extract and a touch of rusticity.
