Deep purple-black colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Out of Sight Vineyard reveals youthful crushed black cherries, boysenberries and warm cassis notes with touches of garrigue, espresso, sautéed herbs and pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied with mouth-filling crunchy black fruits, it has a firm, chewy texture and bold freshness lifting the finish.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Out of Sight Vineyard comes from a southeast portion of Napa Valley in the Stags Leap District. Its opaque ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of spring flowers, blackcurrants, blackberries and licorice. Full-bodied as well as elegant and pure, this sensational 2012 Cabernet can be drunk now or cellared for 15-20 years.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Out of Sight Vineyard bursts from the glass with the essence of wild cherries, smoke, licorice and tar, all supported by firm yet well-integrated tannins. The grapes come from the cool Oak Knoll District, and the wine shows firm acidity and tannins that give it a dry, astringent texture. But it’s very rich, brimming with blackberries, cola and a tang of minerals. Seems like it should age well. Hold until 2015 and see what it does.——S.H.(7/1/2011)—— 93
