The 2010 Sola Fred is the same blend as the 2009 displaying a similar aromatic and flavor profile. However, it is slightly less concentrated and lengthy than its older sibling. Nevertheless, it, too, is an excellent value.Celler El Masroig is the largest cooperative winery in Montsant. The 2010 Sola Fred is a blend of 90% Carinena and 10% Garnacha from 30-year-old vines, aged without oak. It has a fresh, undergrowth-tinged bouquet with some vegetal notes. The palate is medium-bodied with a high-toned entry of macerated dark cherries and spice, though I find some heat towards the finish rather distracting. Drink now-2014. Celler El Masroig is Monstant’s largest co-operative. It was founded in 1917 between grape and olive growers and consists of 300 members who tend 500 hectares of vineyard.
