The organic Col d'Orcia 2020 Rosso di Montalcino (with 220,000 bottles made) is simple and bright with aromas that recall dried cherry skin or candied raspberry. The heat and the dry conditions of the vintage are reflected in those ripe aromas. However, the wine remains true to Sangiovese with a lean mouthfeel and crisp acidity.

Well-defined cherry, strawberry and mineral flavors are shaded by earth and tobacco accents in this compact red, whose chalky tannins leave a grip on the finish. Best from 2022 through 2025. 15,000 cases made, 2,000 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Rosso di Montalcino Select to Add

Cherry, raspberry and red plum come to the front of the Col d'Orcia 2018 Rosso di Montalcino. This wine plays its cards with an expert hand, and ultimately what it delivers so nicely is easy informality and accessibility. Your mouth will water for your favorite comfort food, whether it be a burger and fries or a pasta with home-cooked tomato sauce. This Rosso glides over the palate with ease and a high level of precision or linearity that seems to be quite common in this vintage. Some 115,000 bottles will be released in February 2020.

The 2016 Rosso di Montalcino offers simple lines with good fruit intensity. The bouquet is redolent of wild cherry, red currant and mild spice or aniseed. Made according to simple winemaking techniques, this wine relies fully on the quality of the excellent fruit in 2016 to produce these lovely but easy-drinking results. Some 220,000 bottles were made.
