The 2007 Ex Ex 9 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from the Finca Espolla vineyard which spent 18 months in new French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, its bouquet displays slightly muted aromas of smoky new oak, minerals, herbs, balsamic, licorice, and black currant. In the glass the wine reveals considerable tannin as well as excellent density and the fruit to match its structure. Another 4-5 years of cellaring should allow it to fill out although it will always be a muscular, slightly austere wine.
