The 2009 offerings begin with the entry level 2009 Pinot Noir Pappas Wine Company. A touch of herbs (sage and thyme) along with notes of cedar, spice box, and red fruits lead to an easy-going, spicy, amiable wine that will provide enjoyment over the next 4-5 years. Boedecker Cellars is the winery of husband/wife team Athena Pappas and Stewart Boedecker. The wines are all produced from contracted fruit, fermented with native yeasts, aged for 9 months in a percentage of new oak, and then racked into neutral oak for additional aging. The wines are bottled in Stelvin screw caps in their new winery in an industrial section of Portland. Many of their wines are held back for an additional year of bottle aging.Tel. The 2007 Pinot Noir Pappas Wine Company is medium ruby-colored with an attractive nose of cinnamon, clove, cranberry, and cherry. Lively on the palate, it has good concentration and balance leading to a medium-long, fruit-filled finish. This flavorful Pinot will provide pleasure over the next 4 years. Tel.
