The 2005 Merlot Home Ranch was a steal at $25.00 when released. The wine, at ten years, is a sexy, lush fruit bomb that reveals plenty of cherry/kirsch liqueur-like fruit, a hint of dusty, loamy, earthy undertones, white chocolate, and a beautiful freshness and purity. It is medium to full-bodied, fully mature and best drunk over the next 4-5 years. All of the Cabernet Sauvignons from Sbragia tend to be 100% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 100% new oak for 18-24 months prior to bottling. They are all top-notch efforts, and his pricing makes them a veritable steal.
