The 2001 Syrah Hampton’s dense purple color is accompanied by a sweet perfume of plums, cassis, blackberries, licorice, and new saddle leather, a nicely layered, full-bodied palate, and a big, voluptuous finish. It is a hedonistic Syrah to drink over the next 7-8 years. Epiphany is the relatively new label from Fess Parker’s son/winemaker, Eli, who is also responsible for the Fess Parker offerings, which have demonstrated a dramatic progression in quality over the last 4-5 vintages.
