The newest incarnation of The David is the 2006 The David Howell Mountain, a blend of 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest equal parts Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Bigger, denser, richer, spicier, and more structured than the Rutherford David, this cuvee will require patience. Anticipated maturity: 2011-2025. Coming from the advertising world, David Del Dotto has a creative personality, but behind the sizzle is someone who is obviously committed to producing world-class wines. In the process, he has built an empire with his acquisitions of vineyard land on Howell Mountain, Rutherford, Pritchard Hill, and Sonoma Coast. His extravagant venues in both Napa and St. Helena are eye-popping experiences to say the least. Del Dotto’s new group of wines include some stunning offerings that clearly merit the marketing hype.
